Installation manual for the AFAS Mailchimp integration

With the AFAS Profit Online Mailchimp integration by Combidesk, contacts are automatically synchronized from AFAS Profit Online to Mailchimp. In this guide, you will go through the installation step by step.

1. Connect to AFAS

Before you begin, make sure you have access to the following:

  • An active AFAS subscription with access to the AppConnector

  • The subdomain of your AFAS environment (the part before .afas.online)

  • An XML token generated via the AppConnector in AFAS

Haven't set up the AppConnector yet? Do this first in AFAS via Management → AppConnector. Make sure that at least one connector has been added to your AppConnector and copy the XML token — this is only shown once by AFAS.

Step by step: connecting your AFAS account

Step 1: Open the connection screen

Go to the installation page of the integration and click "Connect your AFAS account". A screen will appear as shown below.

Step 2: Enter your subdomain

In the Subdomain field, enter the first part of your AFAS URL. The full URL has the following format:

Only enter the part that comes before .afas.online.

Step 3: Paste the XML token

In the Token field, paste the full XML token that you copied from the AppConnector in AFAS. The token looks like this:

<token><version>1</version><data>...</data></token>

Please note: AFAS only shows this token once. If you no longer have it, you will need to create a new token in the AppConnector.

Step 4: Test or acceptance environment (optional)

Do you want to connect to a test or acceptance environment? Check the corresponding option:

  • Connect to a test environment

  • Connect to an acceptance environment

Leave these options unchecked if you want to connect to your production environment.

Step 5: Save

Click "Save" to confirm the connection. If everything is correct, your AFAS account is now successfully connected.


2. Connect to Mailchimp

To connect to Mailchimp, you only need your username and password.

Click 'Connect a new Mailchimp account'. A Mailchimp login screen will appear. Please note: the name of the receiving application depends on the app you want to connect to Mailchimp.

Step 1: Enter your username on the login screen and click 'Log in'.

Step 2: After clicking 'Log in', you will be asked to enter your username and password again for confirmation.

Step 3: After successfully entering your login credentials, you will be asked to grant the application access to your Mailchimp account. Click 'Allow' to complete the connection.

After clicking 'Allow', you will be returned to the connections page in the Combidesk dashboard.


3. Configuration of the integration

For the integration to work properly, it must be configured correctly. In the paragraph below, we'll go through all the steps of the integration in sequence. Before starting the installation, we recommend that you first carefully read through these steps.


Configure these AFAS steps:

  • Contact persons
    Transfer existing contact persons?

  • Debtors
    Transfer existing debtors?


Configure these Mailchimp steps:

  • Select contact persons mailing list
    The contact persons will be added to this list

  • Select debtors mailing list
    The debtors will be added to this list


4. The Combidesk customer dashboard

How does the dashboard work?

If you've created a new Combidesk account or installed a integration, you'll receive an email with access to your Combidesk account. When you log in to combidesk.com, you'll arrive at the dashboard. This is where your integration is located. From here, you can easily adjust your integration and account settings, view the integration logs (history), and access support.

What can you view via your Combidesk account?

From your Combidesk dashboard you also have access to your account settings, connected accounts, billing and support.


5. What can you expect from Combidesk?

To help you use our integration effectively, we offer three service levels: basic, pro, and premium. You can always change the service level in your integration. The price will be adjusted for the next billing period.
